C. Jay Cox grew up on a ranch in Nevada, downwind from a nuclear test site. He made his FIRST film, the 2-minute 8mm opus, VAMPIRE CAVE, in third grade
He has written projects for Bette Midler, Antonio Banderas, Walt Disney, Columbia, New Line and Paramount Pictures.
His FIRST produced feature script, SWEET HOME ALABAMA, starring Reese Witherspoon, holds the record as the biggest September opening ever.
His directorial DEBUT, LATTER DAYS, won the HBO Award for Best FIRST Narrative Feature at Los Angeles’ Outfest, in addition to numerous other awards at festivals ranging from Fresno to Brazil.
He formed a production company, Shadow Factory, to produce the next feature he directed, KISS THE BRIDE, starring Tori Spelling.
His most recent big screen writing credit was for NEW IN TOWN starring Renee Zellwegger and Harry Connick, Jr. He is also active in television, where his original script, “To The Mat” recently premiered on CMT.
