In the postwar Polish reality where the streets were gray, posters were not only a better propaganda medium; they were the only color in otherwise dull city landscapes. Polish designers, constrained by massive censorship, elevated posters into a functional art; very subtle metaphorically, yet expressive beyond its dimensions. What was later named the Polish Poster School initiated a quickly adopted artistic trend, which transformed posters in all of Europe. The film features archive material with the masters of the Polish poster school: Henryk Tomaszewski, Jan Lenica or Roman Cieslewicz… with leading poster artists from Poland and France, with film directors and art critics, and a wide selection of historical posters…
